In 1974, James K. Michels opened the doors of EEI in Elburn, Illinois with four employees. The business plan then, as it is now, was to provide civil engineering services to public and private sector clients in northern Illinois.
In 1992, the firm`s scope of services expanded to include land surveying services, and further expanded in 1999 with the acquisition of Dundee Engineering in Dundee, Illinois, a civil engineering and land surveying firm.
After occupying two separate locations in Elburn, Illinois for 20 years, EEI moved to its present facility in Sugar Grove, Illinois in 1994. In 2005, the East Dundee office was relocated to a new and enlarged facility in Hampshire, Illinois.
Today, EEI has a staff of nearly 60 and has the privilege of representing several municipalities as full-time Engineering Consultants and performing engineering projects in many other communities as well. Additionally, EEI works with numerous private sector clients meeting their land development needs. Our philosophy of putting our clients first has led to many longstanding client relationships.
