EEI Wins ACEC-IL Merit Award for Village of Huntley Project

Fifty-four Illinois firms were recognized for excellence in engineering before an audience of over 400 engineers, clients and government officials at an Awards Luncheon held February 11, 2016 at The Marriott Hotel and Conference Center in Normal, Illinois. The firms were recognized for award-winning engineering projects in the American Council of Engineering Companies of Illinois’ Forty-Fifth Annual Engineering Excellence Awards Competition. The competition recognizes outstanding projects designed by private practice engineering firms from the State of Illinois.

Engineering Enterprises, Inc. (EEI) received a Merit Award for the project: ” Sustainable Master Planning Projects $32M+ Savings” which was completed for the Village of Huntley. The Village commissioned the development of a Comprehensive Water and Wastewater Systems Master Plan given the anticipated increase in economic growth within the Village of Huntley, and the need to expand its Water Works and Wastewater Systems infrastructure to serve it. This was not the normal utility master plan, though. This Master Plan included a sustainable source water assessment and also quantified the financial benefits a minimal amount of water conservation could attain. The Master Plan identified over $32,000,000 in capital cost savings with only a 15% reduction in average water use per person for the planning period.

Merit Awards are given for projects worthy of recognition of the engineer and the owner/client for achieving engineering excellence.
