Engineering Enterprises, Inc. receives 2007 American Public Works Association Chicago Metro Chapter Project of the Year Award

March 8, 2007 – The Village of Sugar Grove and Engineering Enterprises, Inc. accepted the American Public Works Association Chicago Metro Chapter Project of the Year Award for Settlers Ridge Water Works System Improvements in the category “Environmental, $2 Million, but less than $10 Million”.

With the new1,300-acre Settlers Ridge Subdivision contributing additional residents, commercial areas, churches, parks, and schools, the Village of Sugar Grove recognized the need to expand the Water Works System. The Village retained Engineering Enterprises, Inc. to provide planning, design and construction services and start-up assistance for the improvements. Project components and major accomplishments include:

Project Components:

  • 2 – 1,000 gpm Deep Water Supply Wells Treatment Plant
  • 2.0 MG Ground Storage Reservoir
  • SCADA System

Project Accomplishments:

  • Provided radium compliant drinking water
  • Added system redundancy and reliability
  • Nearly tripled the water storage capacity of the system
  • Architecture of facilities modeled after Villages` pastoral character and the developments’ theme
  • Cost Control:
    • Bid Amount: $7,525,000
    • Construction Cost: $7,535,000
