EEI is Recognized with a Merit Award from ACEC-IL
Fifty-six Illinois firms were recognized for excellence in engineering before an audience of over 400 engineers, clients and government officials at an Awards Luncheon held February 8, 2013 at The Wyndham Lisle-Chicago Hotel and Executive Conference Center in Lisle. The firms were recognized for award-winning engineering projects in the American Council of Engineering Companies of Illinois’ Forty-Second Annual Engineering Excellence Awards Competition. The competition recognizes outstanding projects designed by private practice engineering firms from the State of Illinois.
Engineering Enterprises, Inc. (EEI) won a Merit Award for the project: “Wells No. 3 and 4 Radium Removal Project” which was completed for the City of St. Charles. Given the need to treat the City’s oldest wells to meet the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) regulations, the City was challenged with finding a cost-effective location to site a water treatment facility. With limited undeveloped area, no practical redevelopment potential, a railroad, the Fox River as well as existing utilities galore, EEI provided the City of St. Charles an innovative solution to site and construct the Wells No. 3 and 4 Radium Removal Facility near the two vital City sources of water. Constant communication and coordination between the project team, City Officials, and local residents were required from the initiation of design through construction completion. Merit Awards are given for projects worthy of recognition of the engineer and the owner/client for achieving engineering excellence.
