I&I Reduction Program: Sanitary Sewer / CMOM Overview

I&I REDUCTION PROGRAM: SANITARY SEWER/ CMOM OVERVIEW

Various Communities, Illinois

The primary focus of the facility planning process or Capacity, Management, Operations and Maintenance (CMOM) Plan, is to evaluate the wastewater needs of the community and provide cost-effective solutions to meet those wastewater needs.

Often a Sewer System Evaluation Survey(SSES) is required during the facility planning process. The purpose of the SSES is to evaluate the condition of the wastewater conveyance system and determine if there are extraneous flows that should not be entering the system. Once problem areas are identified, inflow and infiltration (I/I) can often be reduced.

Highlights:

  • Develop Schedules, Checklists, and Mechanisms for Preventative Maintenance
  • Perform Assessment of the Capacity of the Collection and Treatment System
  • Determine Critical Junctions and Locations Where Overflows and Backups Historically Occur or are Likely to Occur, Map These Locations
  • Identify and Prioritize Structural Deficiencies in the System
  • Update/Develop Overflow Response Plan
  • Update/Develop Third Party Notice Plan
  • Provide Financial Review and Provide Estimated Costs for Implementation and Maintaining Plan
  • Review Sanitary Sewer Ordinance and Recommend Modifications if Needed
