Hampshire Streetscape

HAMPSHIRE STREETSCAPE

Village of Hampshire, Illinois

The project consisted of the reconstruction of approximately 430 feet of roadway to a concrete pavement section with traffic calming islands, 180 feet of water main replacement, 400 feet of new and replacement storm sewer with associated storm structures, decorative street lighting, brick pavers, and a variety of landscaping.  The design transformed State Street from the south side of Jefferson Street to the north side of Washington Avenue by creating traffic-calming islands with landscaping, brick pavers, and protective bollards at each intersection.  Streetlights from Jackson Avenue to Rinn Avenue were replaced with new decorative black powder-coated antique-style poles, and additional decorative streetlights were installed between Jefferson Street and Washington Street to highlight the new improvements.  Updated ADA ramps at the intersections, along with specially painted crosswalks made to look like brick pavers, completed the downtown transformation.
