Engineering Enterprises, Inc. receives 2007 Engineering Excellence Merit Award for the Yorkville Water Works System Improvements


February 2, 2007 – Engineering Enterprise, Inc. received the American Council of Engineering Companies of Illinois 2007 Engineering Excellence Merit Award for the United City of Yorkville Water Works System Improvements.
Displaying foresight for expected population growth, the United City of Yorkville chose Engineering Enterprises, Inc. to evaluate its water works system; obtain financing; provide planning, design, construction and bidding services; and furnish start-up assistance to bring the City`s water supply into radium compliance and ensure the availability of safe drinking water to meet current and future demands.
In all, 18 overlapping projects were completed within five years. Improvements included:
- 3 – 1,000 gpm Deep Water Supply Wells
- 3 Cation Exchange Treatment Facilities
- 3 Elevated Water Storage Tanks
- Booster Pumping/Pressure Reducing Valve Stations
- 1 Pressure Reducing Valve Station
- Raw and Finished Water Main Improvements
- SCADA System
These improvements more than doubled the size of the Yorkville water works system and created two additional pressure zones.
Multiple funding sources were utlized including a federal State and Tribal Assistant Grant, an Illinois Environmental Protection Agency low interest loan, developer fees and revenue bonds. As a result, all18 projects were completed without raising the taxes or water rates of the City`s residents.
