EEI Celebrates 40 Years of Excellence

Engineering Enterprises, Inc. (EEI) is celebrating 40 years of excellence in the civil engineering and land surveying field in April 2014.

Starting in 1974 with a staff of four employees, EEI has grown to a staff of over 35 employees. The business plan then, as it is now, was to provide civil engineering services to public and private sector clients in northern Illinois.

In 1992, the firm`s scope of services expanded to include land surveying services, and further expanded in 1999 with the acquisition of Dundee Engineering in Dundee, Illinois, a civil engineering and land surveying firm.

After occupying two separate locations in Elburn, Illinois for 20 years, EEI moved to its present facility in Sugar Grove, Illinois in 1994. In 2005, the East Dundee office was relocated to a new and enlarged facility in Hampshire, Illinois. Currently all of EEI’s employees are located in the Sugar Grove office.

EEI has the privilege of representing several municipalities as full-time Engineering Consultants and performing engineering projects in many other communities as well. EEI specializes in planning, design and construction of water works and wastewater facilities; floodplain and stormwater management and drainage improvements; transportation systems; GIS mapping and land surveying. Additional services include the analysis, reporting and permitting of floodplain and floodway projects and plan review and construction observation for client municipalities of site improvements of developers.

The EEI philosophy of putting its clients first has led to many longstanding client relationships in northern Illinois and goes hand in hand with the EEI reputation of working diligently to enhance the quality of life and improve the health and welfare of the residents in the communities we serve.

Our philosophy of Supporting the Communities We Work and Live In is a professional conviction as well as a personal issue because our staff members live in these communities, working for our families, friends and neighbors to provide innovative and cost-effective infrastructure improvements.

“Our Corporate Goals start with our people because they are our greatest asset. Without our people we wouldn’t be able to complete our projects for our clients. EEI believes in putting our people first and giving them the tools that they need in order to do their jobs to the best of their abilities. The Principals, myself included, realize that every single one of our employees has numerous demands on their time. To that end we offer the flexibility to our employees in order to be successful in both their business life as well as their personal life. Every single employee at EEI plays a vital role in our success as a company and we are grateful for their dedication to us.” said Peter G. Wallers, PE, CFM, President and CEO.

It is with these things in mind that led to EEI being ranked number one in the anonymous employee satisfaction survey conducted by the Illinois Society of Professional Engineer’s (ISPE) Best Places to Work this year. EEI received the highest score of all nominated companies. Employees reported high rates of career satisfaction and were especially complimentary of the family-friendly work environment where the principals really care about the employees. The firm also scored exceptionally high in flexibility of hours, health insurance benefits, job security, recognition of employee contributions, interesting work, and opportunities to use new technology.

As EEI celebrates 40 years this year we will also be looking towards the future and the many changes that will come in the field of civil engineering and land surveying. Even though there may be many changes in the future, EEI’s core values will remain the same and that is the promise EEI makes to its clients and employees.
